Inlays/Onlays
Where a tooth has been significantly damaged by decay, or where an old filling that is large is starting to decay, a filling in the tooth may not provide enough longevity to make that type of restoration worthwhile, particularly in a situation where one of the corners of a tooth, known as a cusp, is now missing due to the breakdown of the tooth. In these situations an inlay or onlay is often used.

After
The difference with these restorations are that they are made in a laboratory by a Dental Technician, on a model of the tooth, from an impression taken by the dentist. Fillings are usually built up in layers directly in the client’s mouth, whereas an inlay or onlay, having been created by a technician outside of the mouth, is much stronger.
The complete inlay/onlay can then be cemented directly into/onto a clients tooth resulting in a stronger and more aesthetically pleasing restoration that should last for several years with the correct maintenance.
Prices for inlays again depend on their size as this factor influences the complexity of the procedure.
Indications regarding costs are as follows:
Small Inlay - £420.00
Medium Inlay - £451.50
Large Inlay - £504.00
