Crowns and Veneers
Crowns and Veneers are the most sophisticated way in which a dentist is able to change the shape and colour of a client’s teeth and dramatic changes to the appearance and strength of the teeth are possible with these restorations.

Veneers are like ‘false-fingernails’ for teeth. They are made up of thin porcelain which, following the removal of some enamel from the front surface of the teeth, are bonded to the teeth, enabling dentists to change the colour and shape. These restorations are typically used on the anterior teeth, but can be used on more posterior teeth in certain circumstances.
Crowns are a more extensive type of restoration and always involve the removal of some of the outer tooth tissue in order to make space for a crown. An impression is then taken of the tooth and this impression is sent to a laboratory where a crown is made on a model of the tooth. This crown is then returned to the dentist who is able to cement the crown onto the tooth. The advantages of this type of restoration are that it can help protect the tooth where the tooth has previously been decayed or heavily restored, enabling the tooth to last much longer than it would have done otherwise.
As the crown covers the whole tooth it also enables the dentist to dramatically alter the colour and the shape of the tooth which is useful where a client is unhappy with the appearance of their teeth, particularly in those situations where the teeth start off in a poor condition. If the teeth have worn down over a number of years it also enables the dentist to rebuild the front and back teeth and restore a client’s smile.
These treatments produce impressive results but require intensive work by the dentist and help from a Dental Technician who works off site, therefore these procedures are typically the most expensive. Veneers cost £450 - £500 per tooth and crowns can cost between £380 and £600 per tooth depending on the materials used to make the crown and this will depend on the clinical situation for an individual client.
Where multiple crowns or veneers are required, a Smile Design Consultation will be necessary before treatment in order to assess the case appropriately and thoroughly.
