Now that we have addressed adult oral hygiene, it is important to understand how these principles need to be applied to children’s teeth.
Children need to have their teeth cleaned from the moment they appear in their mouth, which can be a tricky thing to do, especially if they don’t understand, or don’t feel the need to co-operate!
For babies the easiest way to clean their mouths as the teeth are coming through is to use a clean flannel, maybe dabbed with some baby toothpaste. This will help to clean the bacteria away from the emerging teeth and help to protect the new enamel.
